When Beauty is Health: A Note of Gratitude to Sharmadean Reid
There are moments in business that remind you why you began. For me, one of those moments happened today.
I was doing the usual “I really don’t want to log into emails on a Sunday” thing, when I saw that Sharmadean Reid had sent out her New Methods for Women newsletter. I smiled, knowing I was about to enjoy a beautiful read.
And then, as I read, I realised that Sharmadean - entrepreneur, community-builder, founder of Wah Nails, The Stack World and now 39BC - had taken the time, amidst everything she has on, to place Skin & Sanctuary among her own health rituals.
Alongside acupuncture, IV drips, magnesium sprays, and travel recovery tips, she wrote:
“Book a Hydrafacial at Skin & Sanctuary every 6 weeks to replace any moisture loss in my face. I know this should go in beauty but honestly, it’s health.”
Sharmadean’s kindness - and her words - mean more than I can explain.
Beauty as Health
This is exactly how we see our work. A Hydrafacial isn’t a spa indulgence. It’s not about candlelight or pampering (which I don’t deny can also be fabulous) but really is a medical-grade treatment that clears, nourishes, and strengthens the skin barrier.
As Sharmadean notes, it belongs in the same category as acupuncture or a vitamin infusion - not because it feels luxurious, but because it supports how your body functions.
And yet, it’s also an experience. Add in Fatma’s magic hands - her meticulous eye and gentle precision - and you leave with more than hydrated skin. You leave with the sense that someone has truly seen you, cared for you, and given your skin the attention it deserves
The Power of Community
What makes Sharmadean so inspiring is that she never treats beauty as surface-level. Whether through The Stack World, her new venture 39BC, or her writing, she creates communities where women share knowledge, tools, and encouragement.
For her - as for so many of our clients - beauty is not vanity. It is structure, support, and health. That alignment matters deeply to us at Skin & Sanctuary. Because we have always believed that the real value of what we do is not just clearer skin, but clearer confidence. Not just looking rested, but being restored.
Gratitude
So thank you, Sharmadean, for seeing Skin & Sanctuary in that light. For including us among your rituals of care and recovery. For reminding us that there is power in community, and that sometimes the most meaningful endorsement is when another woman says: this helps me stay well.
We are privileged to work in an environment filled with such humans - people who inspire us daily, who show up for themselves and for others, and who remind us that beauty, at its best, is health.
If you, too, want to experience a treatment that restores rather than masks, book a Consultation with one of our experienced clinicians. It’s not about glow. It’s about giving your skin the health it deserves.
