Supporting UN Women

Since starting Skin & Sanctuary we have had a heart pull, knowing that we would like to do a little more. There is no doubt that running a business has had it’s challenges, and as our patients will be aware, for our team, that has included the closures during Covid, the not so planned move to interim premises, as well as the personal loss of some very special people.

However, throughout I remained so aware of how privileged I am. Just being born where I was, to parents who were kind, generous and so hard -working, I was gifted education, a nurturing home, an amazing family, sisters, partner as well as heaps of love - and opportunity.

And today, though it wasn’t a deliberate intention, I am in the fortunate position of working alongside a group of exceptional, talented women whose unique expertise, skills and passion positively touches and benefits the lives of our patients, daily.

So , as we finalise the move to our new, but still East London, address, we thought it was time to extend this supportive commitment beyond our doors. We have chosen to partner with UN Women, an organisation that shares our vision of a more just and equitable, and so more beautiful world. By donating £1 from every treatment, we can help them contribute to their vital work in promoting gender in equality, fighting discrimination.and amplifying the voices of women everywhere.

UN Women, as the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality, plays a pivotal role in advancing women’s rights and empowerment. Their programs and initiatives span across education, economic empowerment, ending violence against women, and promoting women’s leadership and participation. We first came across UN women when our Medical Director, Dr Saira Vasdev was invited as an official delegate for UN Women UK to this year’s UN Commission on the Status of Women. She left the conference completely inspired by the work being visioned and undertaken.

We are truly honoured to support their tireless efforts in creating a brighter future for women and girls worldwide, particularly as we know that by supporting and empowering women and girls we also support men, boys and society generally.
